Estos dos videos son un buen punto de partida para cualquier principiante del mapudungun hecho por el grupo Mocen de Chile y Fiestoforo.  La pronunciación del mapudungun, en general, no resulta tan difícil, ya que no cuenta con fonemas (sonidos) eyectivos o ingresivos como otras lenguas originarias (p.ej. el q'anjob'al, el aymara, el quechua).  Lo que resulta un poco complicado a un hispanohablante es la famosa sexta vocal "ü" y la "r" que suena muy similar a la "r" del inglés norteamericano.  Se ha dicho que la "ü" se parece al sonido que uno hace al recibir un golpe en la guata (panza).  Si uno habla inglés norteamericano, esta vocal es muy parecida a la de la última sílaba de la palabra "roses" (rosas).  Por último, el grafema "ll" representa un sonido que todavía existe en algunas variedades del español que hacen distinción entre "y" y "ll".  Es el mismo sonido  representado por el grafema "lh" del portugués (trabalho) y el grafema "gl" del italiano (figlia).  Es una "l" (lateral) pero pronunciada levantando el dorso de la lengua y haciendo contacto con el paladar duro.

Although in Spanish, these videos by Mocen adn Fiestoforo are  a good intro to mapudungun for any beginner.  The pronunciation of mapudungun isn't as "difficult" as other Amerindian languages, in part, because it doesn't have ejective or ingresive phonemes (sounds) like other Amerindian langauges (e.g. Q'anjo'bal, Aymara, Quechua).  A native speaker of English might find the sound represented by the grapheme "ll" a bit difficult.  It's the same sound represented by the grapheme "lh" in Portugues (trabalho) and the grapheme "gl" in Italian (figlia).  It's like pronouncing an "l" (lateral) in the word "late" but by using the dorsum or body of the tongue (the middle part) and touching it to the hard palate. There are only six vowels (a,e,i,o,u,ü), which can be harder for English speakers because we can have anywhere from 10-13 (or more) vowels. The "ü" is very similar to the final vowel in the last syllable of the word "roses".
